Beginning of our BLOG

Firstly i'd like to thank you for looking and reading our BLOG.
Introducing ourselves, I'm Laney and I'm 24 from Mornington Peninsula, my boyfriend of 2 years is Liam who is also 24 from Cranbourne Area.

we are first home buyers and after 6 months of looking at established homes we decided to start looking at perhaps purchasing land and down the track eventually building on it.
Firstly we started to look at land in Mornington, Victoria, the lifestyle, scenery, shopping, schools, parks and of course the beach we were all in favour of, after looking at blocks in established areas which proved to be way over our budget, infact at this stage we were hoping to purchase land for approximately $180,000. This proved to be unrealistic!! haha
Then we, well I started to look around Somerville, Pearcedale, Cranbourne South in particular Botanic Ridge, since the day this estate started I fell in love and knew this is were i wanted to live, if not forever, for a very long time. However my boyfriend being a Cranbourne boy, suggested we look at Cascades, Eve, Brookland Greens, he was convinced I would say yes however growing up in a fairly quiet town, with only a local shop, post office and news agent, playing all sorts of sports on our road out the front of our huge blocks which turns out we could easily build 3 units on the back of, I personally knew I didnt want to spend $180,000 on a small sized 500m2 block!
So then we went back to look at Botanic Ridge, beautiful, clean, wetlands etc. however the one fault in this place we found was the land was huge and we didnt want to build a house that was over 25sq, kind of regretting this now as really its not that much more money.
Then we thought why not look at the Hunt Club, close to shops, schools, child care, banks, medical centre etc. and the story ends here, first we were looking at blocks 550m2 or more, around the price range of $180,000 we were both interested in one block that was 586m2 close to future parklands, a street which people really didnt have a reason to be walking through other than to get to there house on the street etc, however having finally decided on a block we were then told this house is a Henley house and land package only. At this stage we werent quite sure who we were going to build with so we decided against this.
we had already booked and payed for our holiday in Malaysia and Bali so we thought we would wait to our return which was not for another month, however the fantastic Sales Representative informed us that next weekend another stage would be released with blocks over 600m2, so we asked if she could show us on the map as to where this is, after deciding we really like it, she gave us the option to leave a $500 dollar deposit on a lot, this is when we finally chose our lot 680m2.

That day we decided to have a walk through Dennis Family Homes in which we really didnt feel in love with any. After walking through we spoke to the fantastic Sales Consultant at Cranbourne East, who showed us the Dennis Family Brochure, we told him the block we just put a deposit on, and he showed us the houses he believed would best suit us, this is were we came to the realisation the Columbia could be the house.
The next day we walked through the Beaufort, which turns out to be very very similiar to the Columbia however in the Generation series, which means comes with all the standard upgrades, fancier benchtops etc. As we are first home buyers we are quite happy to have a simple but elegant home which we can dress up to our likes, and buy sticking to the stands we are hoping to buy a spa, deck out the backyard with a plasma tv and a fantastic set-up for entertaining!!
That afternoon I emailed Dennis Family Homes, Cranbourne East, organised a meeting and the following weekend we left our deposit with dennis family homes on the Columbia.

I think thats enough blubbering on now,
Laney.
